"Gemullus was not at all perturbed that the merchant caravan had gone north instead of south. He even let Scotti share his bucket of trodh, tiny little crunchy fish, he had bought from the villagers. Scotti would have preferred them cooked, or at any rate, dead, but Gemullus blithely explained that dead, cooked trodh are deadly poison."
— Waughin Jarth

Trodh are bony fish indigenous to the Black Marsh province on the continent of Tamriel. Tiny in size, they are considered edible but only while raw and still living. The reason for this necessity is that upon death they become deadly poisonous. They are notable for being crunchy, which most likely stems from their bones being crushed during consuming.
